History \u2013 2000 thru 2006<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The beginning of the year 2000 was welcomed with considerable concern by many because of the Y2K computer problem.\u00a0 This had to do with the common practice of only using the last two digits of the year in storing date data in computer memory.\u00a0 But the year opened with very few of the problems that had been expected.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Alton, Evelyn, and Terry Fritts had been occupied watching from the back porch of the Fritts\u00a0farmhouse\u00a0the construction of a new car wash just east across Telephone Road.\u00a0\u00a0 Very soon their attention was turned to a new Hibdon\u2019s Tire store and later to a new Tractor Supply.<\/p>\n

Sometime after the car wash\u00a0opened, Stan Drake, Assistant City Manager of Moore, visited the Fritts family about securing right of way to widen both Telephone Road and SW 19th Street.\u00a0\u00a0 Stan explained that the City of Moore had worked with the Riverwalk developer, Ron Wilhite, to secure a new Kohl\u2019s store.\u00a0\u00a0 Part of the City\u2019s responsibility was to widen both Telephone Road and SW 19th Street.<\/p>\n

Terry asked Stan how much the City was proposing to pay.\u00a0 Stan replied that the City really didn\u2019t have any money and would really appreciate a gift.\u00a0 Stan was also very persuasive that Fritts Farm would benefit from having frontage on 4 lane roads.\u00a0 Eventually a deal was struck to trade the right of way for resurfacing the old driveway of the Fritts\u2019 farmhouse.\u00a0\u00a0 The negotiations took place outside and the noise from the new car wash was surprisingly loud which in\u00a0fact was mentioned by Alton to Stan.<\/p>\n

In 2001 Evelyn Fritts died and Alton Fritts was diagnosed with dementia of the Alzheimer\u2019s type.\u00a0 Prior to Evelyn\u2019s death, she and Alton had asked their sons to not sell any of the Fritts Farm land until after their passing.<\/p>\n

In early 2004 several real estate agents visited Fritts farm to inquire about purchasing some or all of the land.\u00a0 One such agent was interested in a site for a Lowe\u2019s store. \u00a0 The specific site in mind was about 10 or 15 acres along Telephone Road starting at SW 19th Street.\u00a0 Lowe\u2019s wanted the store to face east.\u00a0 Another agent was interested in\u00a0approximately the same amount of\u00a0land for a Home Depot store\u00a0along SW 19th Street but with the store facing north.\u00a0 This was quite a surprise to the family because any retail interest was very much unexpected.<\/p>\n

Eventually a ground lease deal was negotiated with Home Depot that allowed the Fritts\u2019 to retain ownership of the land, thus fulfilling the promise made to Alton and Evelyn and also allowing Alton and Terry to remain living in the family\u2019s\u00a0home.
\nSubsequently, Home Depot opened at the end of January 2006, \u00a0followed by Starbucks on October 2, 2006, and Chili\u2019s on November 9, 2006.<\/p>\n

Also in November of 2006, Fritts Farm received a Letter of Intent from Chick-Fil-A<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
